The district and parish and town council elections on 4 May 2023 will be the first time that electors will need to bring photo ID with them when they vote at a polling station.
The Electoral Commission has now launched its ‘Note to self’ Voter ID communications campaign which will be delivered in two phases:
- Phase one (9 January – 26 February): An awareness phase running across England with the aim of making sure as many people as possible are aware of the change ahead of future elections.
- Phase two (27 February – 4 May): An urgency phase where advertising will only run in areas where elections are taking place, including West Suffolk.
- A local communications campaign across West Suffolk to raise awareness and is looking at ways that it can be the most effective. For example, including a leaflet with every council tax bill is just one of the ways to get the message out to our communities and onto the doormat of most households in West Suffolk. Officers and partner organisations will also undertake communication activity specifically targeted for those that may need support or may be harder to reach in our communities
As your Parish Councils we wanted to raising awareness of these changes.
